How the Program Affects You

DoD 8570 employees are required to hold certifications for the Information Assurance (IA) program.

Of the certifications available, some may include:

  • CompTIA A+
  • CompTIA Network+
  • ComptTIA Security+

If you achieved one of these certifications before January 1, 2011, then you must enroll in the CompTIA CE program to transition your certification before the beginning of 2012.

The DoD 8570 IA baseline certifications will cease to recognize older certifications that weren’t renewed. If you want to maintain your credentials, you need to act soon to ensure your program costs covered by the DoD.

What to do for multiple CompTIA Certifications

For individuals who hold multiple CompTIA certifications, you only need to enroll in CompTIA CE classes for the highest level of certification you hold.

An example: If you hold CompTIA A+, Network+, and Security+ certifications, you only need to renew your Security+ certification for all three certifications to be affected.

Requirements for DoD 8570 Personnel

As a member of the DoD who holds a baseline IA certification, you are required to release your certification information using a Defense Workforce Certification Application (DWCA).

To maintain your CompTIA certifications and make sure the program costs are covered by the DoD, you need to both register and enroll before December 31, 2011.
