This course is an introductory course to cloud computing and, more specifically, Microsoft's public cloud option within Windows Azure. Microsoft has called Windows Azure an operating system available for "the cloud". During this course, students will explore the cloud operating system and they will learn how to write, deploy and monitor .NET applications within Azure. This course is designed for .NET developers who have Web application experience and that are exploring and developing new applications or that are porting various existing applications to Windows Azure.
After the completion of this course, our students will:
1. Have gained extensive knowledge in cloud computing and its various forms. Students will also understand how Windows Azure fits into the cloud computing space as a whole.
2. Have learned why a lot of organizations want to run various types of applications in the Azure cloud.
3. Have an understanding of the architecture of Azure.
4. Know how to explore the Azure SDK and DevFabric development environment.
5. Understand how to develop specific types of applications for Azure and understand how those applications vary from developing "normal" .NET applications.
6. Have the skills needed to write and deploy an ASP.NET Web application, or Web Role, to Azure.
7. Know how to explore Azure storage capabilities.
8. Understand how to deploy and create background computational applications (Worker Role) within Azure.
9. Have explored SQL Azure capability.
